WHY IS IT SO SPECIAL?

The story of The Mainstay Bed & Breakfast Inn began back in 1872, and is still being told the moment you walk through it's doors.

This historic New Jersey inn was originally established as a private gambling club, and became known for it's elegant beauty. Initially called "The Clubhouse", the property was sold in 1898 when gambling was made illegal, was passed through families, and finally in 1972 was registered on the National Register of Historic Sites.

Today, your welcoming innkeepers Pete, Ester and Diane continue to allow the rich history to shine through, whilst offering a romantic escape for couples with the most comfortable of amenities.

There are three types of accommodations you can choose from for your stay at The Mainstay Inn. Within the main inn itself, there are 6 rooms, as there are with the Cottage Rooms. All of these 12 rooms have their own personality in the furnishings, and their unique character shines through.

Highlights are the ornate hand-carved headboards in the rich woods. Antique mirrors, draws and writing desks complete the traditional furnishings.

For a more modern experience, the Beach Apartment might be for you. Here, up to 4 people, or couples who want a bit more space, can enjoy their own private abode. Situated across two floors, you can relax in your living room with your very own fireplace, or sip iced tea out on your private deck.

Your stay in the beach apartment also includes breakfast and afternoon tea.

At The Mainstay Inn, it's the attention to detail, and the level of care that sets it apart from many other accommodations. With daily newspapers, ability to shower after check out, and staff willing to go above and beyond for anything you might need, including dietary requirements, you will feel truly looked after.

A charming, historic, and timeless inn full of life and character.
