WHY IS IT SO SPECIAL?

 

Currently the team behind Romance The USA are sitting on the historically charming wrap around porch of Lake Guntersville Bed and Breakfast, typing this entry, and it couldn't be more perfect.

Dating back to 1910, Lake Guntersville Bed & Breakfast, also known as the "Hooper House", is one of the most beautiful, peaceful and charming B&Bs we have stayed in.

It's located two blocks from the downtown center, where the streets are lined with antiques, shops and restaurants. The B&B itself sits atop a small hill that overlooks the sparking 69,000 acre Lake Guntersville.

 

There are seven rooms within the refurbished property, and each one is perfectly decorated. We stayed in the Fisherman room, and the attention to detail was second to none. It also had some of the most comfortable and cozy sheets we have ever encountered.

 

What's beautiful about this property, is that whilst it's been renovated to accommodate seven guest rooms with en suites, it has upheld a historic charm. All of the decor is oozing with stories from the past, and breathes a whole new life into the property.

 

Breakfast is included in the room rate, and will offer up an iconic Alabama-style breakfast you won't be forgetting in a long time. We dined on cheese grit soufflé, berry French Toast, local smoked sausages and this delicious butter syrup that had been passed down through generations.

 

Each of the rooms have their own private entrance off the wrap around porch, so you really do feel like you're in your own private oasis. The second floor boasts a communal kitchen, stocked with waters and sodas, and all the amenities you need to make your stay more comfortable. The third floor boasts a games room, if sitting on the porch in the antique rocking chairs isn't enough.

 

We didn't know what to expect when we first booked this B&B, but one thing we know is that we will be back. Whether you come here on a passing visit, or set your sights on a longer stay, you will be overwhelmed by how unforgettable this experience will be.
