WHY IS IT SO SPECIAL?

The magic of the Victorian era comes to life in Dubuque, with The Hancock House.

Built in 1891 by Charles T. Hancock, whose inheritance made him the largest grocer and distributor in the entire Midwest.

Today, your hosts Chuck and Susan will be there to warmly welcome you - the perfect beginning to your romantic Iowa escape. They play a huge part in what makes this historic B&B so special. They will be there to offer you a full tour of the property, and discuss your stay with you, to ensure it's as perfect as it can be.

With a visit to a place like The Hancock House, it's the inn you visit for, as much as the charming area that surrounds it. Spend some time relaxing on the wrap around porch, where you can enjoy incredible sunrises and sunsets. The porch swing is the perfect place to sip that wine, or just listen to the summer crickets.

On the main floor of the inn, the south parlor can be found. Here, you can relax and enjoy a drink surrounded by the charm of this Queen Ann styled property. Over in the north parlor, you can enjoy the view of historic Dubuque and the grand Mississippi River, and even peek through their telescope.

Then, there are the rooms. Each guest room has it's own charm, and own features.

Choose the one that calls you. Some rooms offer you incredible views to end the day to. Others allow you to relax in your own whirlpool tub. Some feature historic claw-foot tubs. To really spoilt yourselves, choose a room with it's very own working fireplace, the perfect spot to stay cozy on those cooler nights.

Every room comes with it's own full English breakfast come morning time. The perfect way to start your day.

Of course, a visit to The Hancock House wouldn't be complete without really taking advantage of the stunning town of Dubuque. Dating back to the 1780s and brimming with history, it's the perfect place to stroll the streets, take in the culture, and embrace one of the most popular towns in Iowa.

A charming experience for any romantic getaway in this Iowa gem.
